Tangram Puzzle Pro (shown at the top of this page) is a fair implementation, but curiously it does not seem to be possible to reflect the parallelogram! In various other puzzle-games, developers have used the double-tap to reflect a piece ("turn it around"), possibly even using one of nice visual transitions that are available on the iPhone.

Now, it turns out (as discussed in the comments to that post) that James McCombe was possibly not the true originator of that puzzle anyway. ... He simply copied some of the best sliding block puzzles from Nick Baxter’s Sliding block page and now sells them for one dollar as Sliding Puzzle (iTunes link), without any mention of the originators!
In the development of computer games, one of the most important underlying developments is the refinement of the so-called physics engine. Originally, each developer would independently define all reactions of the program to each input of the user. Obviously, this is very labour-intensive, so already from the start of computer-games different solutions were developed. The [...]

The idea is to take an undirected graph , and the puzzle is to place the vertices ('nodes') in such a way that the graph is planar, i.e. the the edges ('lines') do not cross.

...If you touch a vertex, it will show all connected vertices in red, which is very helpful in solving the puzzles (this trick was already used by John Tantalo's original implementation). ... At about 3'00 into the clip, you will see two people playing planarity on one big screen, both using both their hands at once to move vertices around.

However, there is a long history of conceptual predecessors that could also be mentioned (see Tony Delgado's history for the details, and see also Jaap Scherhuis' extensive collection of information about this puzzle). ... It is a literal remake of the original Lights Out, and it even says so: "Black Out is a remake [of the] addicting puzzle game originally brought to you by Tiger Electronics in the 1990's".
